The Future in Bloom

The Future in Bloom

The Institute of Directors (IoD) Emerging Leaders, formerly the Next Gen Forum, has announced The Future in Bloom, an elevated English garden party taking place on Friday 3 July 2026, from 4:30 PM - 9:30 PM at St Pierre Park Hotel.

The event marks the Committee’s rebrand and signals an exciting new chapter in its mission to support experienced professionals as they take the next step towards board-level leadership.

Bringing together IoD members, senior professionals and emerging business leaders, the evening will celebrate opportunity, prosperity and continuity, as well as the future of Guernsey's business community.

The IoD Emerging Leaders supports experienced professionals, including junior directors, senior managers and department heads, to build the skills, confidence and networks needed to progress towards the boardroom. With members drawn from across all sectors, the group reflects the IoD's role as a truly intergenerational organisation, supporting leadership development at every stage.

Committee co-vice chair Liz Chalmers said: 'There are a growing number of groups supporting professionals in the earlier stages of their careers. Emerging Leaders is a home for experienced, senior professionals seeking the next step on their path to the boardroom across all business sectors, rather than being industry-focused. The Future in Bloom is a celebration of Guernsey's current and future leaders, and an opportunity to build relationships, share ideas and champion the talent that will help shape the island's future.'

The Future in Bloom will place Guernsey's entrepreneurial and creative community front and centre, with local businesses delivering every aspect of the event, from photography and event management to catering and entertainment. Guests will enjoy locally sourced produce alongside live performances from local artists.

The evening will feature a keynote address by David Matheson & Billy Etheridge of the restaurant Alba, which was recently featured in the Michelin Guide and awarded a Bib Gourmand. They will be talking through their respective journeys and developing Alba in Guernsey. The event will also have Drew Jonkmans, Fund Accounting Supervisor at The Citco Group, talking about the importance of investing in the island's next generation of leaders. As Guernsey continues to strengthen its position as an international business centre, nurturing leadership talent across all sectors remains essential to its long-term success.

Guests will be welcomed onto the lawn with a drinks reception, garden games and live music, before a programme of entertainment and the keynote address.

The Future in Bloom is made possible through the generous support of the event’s sponsors: gold sponsor Cazanove Capital, silver sponsors Walkers and Grant Thornton, and bronze sponsors Leapfrog Recruitment, Villa Saletta and Handpicked Hotels.

Tickets are free for IoD members and £40 for non-members. You can book your place here.

The IoD Emerging Leaders will be hosting an elevated garden party networking event on 3rd July.
