The Institute of Directors (IoD) Next Gen Forum is excited to announce its upcoming workshop focusing on the challenges and opportunities for bridging politics and business for the next generation of business leaders and decision-makers in Guernsey. Taking place on 16th October from 5:30 to 8:00 pm at Walkers, this event offers a valuable opportunity for emerging leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals interested in how the government operates and also how it has evolved in Guernsey.
Tom Zierer, the chair of the IoD Next Gen Committee said, 'With Guernsey’s next general election set for 18th June 2025, it is imperative and timely to offer future leaders an opportunity to have insight into how our unique government works. Politics and Business do not operate in silo and as the next generation of business leaders, engagement and understanding in our political system will be key.'
The workshop will be an interactive Q&A panel discussion with Deputy Lindsay de Sausmarez, President of the Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure, Matt Fallaize, Senior Reporter at Guernsey Press, and Shelaine Green, Chair at Women in Public Life Guernsey.
The discussion will cover Guernsey’s political landscape and machinery of government, focusing on the impact of upcoming elections, an education segment on Guernsey's unique political framework, how policy changes affecting businesses are proposed and approved, and the role that the next generation will play in progressing and innovating politics in Guernsey.
